Pilz presents automation system training for FMG in Perth

Adam Hallinan, from our channel partner, Pilz Australia, delivered the two-day PSS 4000 automation system training session with some of the FMG Eliwana team members, supported by Denis Bergemann, CMSE®, Teksal Safety’s Business Unit Manager – Safety Automation and Instrumentation.

Highlighting the importance of automation safety in workplaces, the training outlines the benefits of component-oriented programming.

It includes information about the control of functions from the PSSuniversal system using I/O modules and options for communication via SafetyNET p.

Participants learnt about the simple and versatile configuration of distributed control systems using the software platform PAS4000 and sample exercises, and troubleshooting.

The course covers:

  • Basics of IEC61131-3 programming and the various programming languages
  • Physical design: devices, connectors and cables
  • System architecture and networking
  • Safety-related communications, SafetyNET p network configuration
  • Communication between safety and automation
  • Familiarisation with Pilz Automation Suite (PAS4000)
  • Basics of the program editor PASmulti
  • Exercises for component-based programming
  • Basics of SafetyNET p
  • The basics of Ethernet, physical properties: topologies, network extension
  • Diagnostic options and simple troubleshooting including hands-on exercises
  • Connection to various communication systems
  • Data backup and firmware update
