VALVE OPERATION
Valve operation sequence control products provide guidance for valve operations that involve a complex sequence of events. They:
- Help your team follow complex procedures
- Ensure your team adheres to safety guidelines
- Integrate field device input signals into manual valve operations
As a channel partner for valve operation solutions manufacturer, Sofis, Teksal Safety provides valve operation products to make operating manual valves easier, safer, and more efficient, including FlexiDrive, EasiDrive and Power Wrench.
For valves in hard-to-reach or hazardous areas
Flexible, remote valve operation – FlexiDrive
For valves in hard-to-reach or hazardous areas, remote operation systems allow control from a safer location.
Designed to operate valves in dangerous or inaccessible areas, Sofis FlexiDrive is flexible, cable-driven system that lets you operate a valve from a distance, even through walls or underwater, and in all climatic conditions.
It has two stations, joined by a unique, patented, linear drive cable. It enables valves and other wheel-operated devices in remote, hard-to-reach or hazardous locations to be operated easily from a conveniently located handwheel.
FlexiDrive can be applied to any conventional wheel-operated valve/device, in oil, gas and chemical processing plants, or any other industrial application.
FlexiDrive Features
-
Remote Operation
FlexiDrive allows operators to remotely control valves from a safe distance, enhancing safety.
-
Compatibility
FlexiDrive can be applied to any conventional wheel-operated valve/device.
-
Safety in Hazardous Areas
FlexiDrive ensures safe valve operation in hazardous areas, where direct human intervention may pose risks.
-
Valve Operation Through Walls
The system can control valves through walls, enabling operation in enclosed or obstructed spaces without the need for physical access.
-
Underwater Operation
FlexiDrive is suitable for underwater valve operation, making it ideal for applications such as underwater pipelines or tanks.
-
Scaffolding-Free Installation
The system can be installed without scaffolding, reducing installation time and costs.
-
Avoids Working at Heights
FlexiDrive’s remote operation eliminates the need for working at heights, minimising risk to workers.
PORTABLE REMOTE VALVE ACTUATORS
EASIDRIVE & POWER WRENCH
These hand-held devices help in turning valves, reducing the physical effort required.
A versatile, portable tool, EasiDrive is suitable for valves that require many turns or have high-torques. It can be powered pneumatically, electrically, or hydraulically.
It is an efficient, cost-effective alternative to a dedicated valve actuator.
Speed up manual valve operation while minimising harm
Power Wrench
Designed to improve the safety and efficiency of valve operations, the Sofis Power Wrench portable actuator offers an easier and smarter way to operate manual valves.
- Reduces the time and effort needed to turn valves
- Uses compressed air to operate valves
- Helps reduce valve operating time by up to 80%.
How it works
Install the drive plate with u-bolts, connect the Power Wrench portable valve actuator to an air supply and you are ready to go!
- Flexible
- Easy to mount
- Multi-rotation manual valves
- Easy opening and closing manual valves
- Flexibility to operate manual valves
Actuate any valve thanks to flexible mounting
Flexible and easy-to-mount, the Power Wrench is ideal for shutdowns and other valve maintenance activities.
Due to its adaptable design, it can be quickly attached to any valve, and with its universal drive plates, it can be mounted and remounted wherever required.
Operating the portable actuator is easy and safe within the recommended boundaries, and you are in control of the applied force and speed.
Enforced ‘2-hands operation’ increases safety
The Power Wrench throttle allows for a controlled build-up of torque and speed, and its safety lever and throttle valve enforce ‘2-hands operation’.
Valve Operation FAQs
-
Why use a valve drive?
Valve drives can reduce operating time by up to 80%. They can also reduce operator fatigue and injury. They also offer full actuation of valves without the expense of dedicated actuation.
-
How is the Sofis Power Wrench attached to a valve?
The Sofis Power Wrench is supplied with adaptor plates to suit most valve handwheels. The plates are easily connected with 3 U Bolts.
-
What type of valve can you install a valve drive onto?
Any valve with a rising / non-rising stem like a gate valve or gearbox. Basically any valve that uses a multiturn.
-
What is the difference between the Sofis EasiDrive and Power Wrench?
The Sofis Power Wrench is considered more portable and is limited to 500Nm Output torque. The EasiDrive has a fixed reaction arm to the valve. It can also provide Torque outputs up to 950Nm.
-
Do portable actuators need servicing?
Yes. Both the EasiDrive and Power Wrench need regular maintenance. Depending on usage, we would recommend a service every 6-12 months. Teksal Safety provides this service in Australia.
