FORTRESS AND CASTELL KEY INTERLOCKING

High Voltage & Distribution Safety

Trapped key interlocks are mechanical or electro-mechanical devices used to ensure the safe operation of plant and equipment.

A long-time channel partner with Fortress Interlocks, Teksal Safety has extensive years of experience with trapped key interlock applications and distribution interlocking project management.

Typical applications of trapped key interlocks include:

  • Safe Isolation & Access Control – ensures isolations are complete before  personnel can access machinery or equipment.
  • Switchgear interlocking and HV switching – helps minimise switching and isolation risks in complicated distribution systems.

High Voltage & Distribution Safety FAQs

  • How do I know which interlock best suits my switchgear?

All we need to know is the make and model of your switchgear, so we can recommend the most suitable interlock. We may need specific information from the switchgear manufacturer.

  • What is a ‘code’?

This is the customer-created engraved code on the interlock and key. It can be made of up to 30 characters over 3 lines of 10 characters.

  • What is a ‘differ’?

The differ is a unique database-generated number created by Fortress and is matched to the customer’s code. This is kept in a global database.

  • Can Teksal Safety help manage codes on a project?

Yes, Teksal Safety can help manage project codes. We specialise in helping coordinate with different switchgear manufacturers and board builders to ensure lock types and project codes match.

  • Can Teksal Safety help with interlock logic design?

Yes, Teksal Safety can help with logic design. We have extensive experience across many projects helping our clients to get their interlocks to work safely. Logic design has to be signed off by the client.
