Reducing manual effort and minimising injury with Sofis Power Wrench for global mining company

Global mining company operating in Western Australia

Project

A global mining company based in Western Australia needed a valve operation solution that minimised repetitive manual effort.

Challenges

As the teams operate various size wheel valves with a high number of revolutions and in various positions from knee height to above shoulder height, they needed to minimise repetitive manual effort.

Solution

Sofis Power Wrench.

Teksal Safety’s team installed drive plates on key wheel valves to enable the pneumatically driven power wrench to be used to turn the wheel valves.

While it may seem like a simple solution, it:

  • Reduced the physical effort required to operate the valves
  • Made the job easier for a diverse workforce with varying physical strength
  • Minimised the risk of injury to due to repetitive work

“Having provided high voltage switchgear interlocking to the client for many years, we welcomed the opportunity to introduce valve operation safety solutions to help them protect their people, plant and process.” – Joe Hischar, managing director, Teksal Safety
