Teksal Safety’s custom solution helps improve worker safety and minimise downtime on BHP South Flank project
Teksal Safety, in partnership with global manufacturer, Fortress Interlocks, and local electrical and pneumatic control systems company, EKKA, delivered a custom solution to help improve worker safety and minimise downtime at BHP’s South Flank project.
The project
BHP needed a control system input solution to enable remote isolation of conveyors which would help improve worker safety and minimise downtime at its South Flank project.
As the functionality of the control hardware required was not available in a standard product, Teksal Safety developed a bespoke solution.
Our solution
Drawing on more than 20 years’ experience with Fortress products, Teksal Safety developed a functional specification for the product that enabled remote isolation input and control, including functionality to meet BHP’s operational and procedural requirements.
Fortress responded quickly, completing the detailed design and manufacture of the product.
About the control unit
- The unit is dual acting and features a solenoid-controlled sequential switch unit.
- It functions as a safety control element while enabling administrative lock-off points that integrate with the client’s operating procedures.
